A new book by Andreas Schleicher, one of the creators of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and an international authority on education policy,World Class: How to Build a 21st-Century School System, published by OECD in April 2018, suggests that there are two key questions when it comes to education in the 21st century: Where do we need to go? and How do we get there? Schleicher's book provides the answer with an essential itinerary and roadmap. Today’s students, he argues, need to be equipped not just with excellent cognitive skills - proficiency in reading, mathematics and science - but also with the social and emotional skills that will help them meet the unforeseeable challenges of tomorrow.
