British Council

About the Institution: The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Founded in 1934, it is a UK charity governed by Royal Charter and a UK public body.

It creates friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries. It does this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with – changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust. It works with over 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language, education and civil society. Each year it reaches over 20 million people face-to-face and more than 500 million people online, via broadcasts and publications. (Read more)

Through the programme, they bring together people with different beliefs and perspectives to learn from and share with each other. Working with partners around the globe (22 countries around 8 regions), they train participants in the skills and knowledge needed to affect social change in their communities. .

Active Citizens connects thousands of like-minded people around the world who collectively want to make a fairer and more inclusive society.
